Muckross will welcome harpers from all corners of Ireland to our two day celebration of the Irish harp; a combination of harp master classes, sessions, lectures and a gala concert presented by the foremost figures in the Irish harp world.

This is a weekend with a difference, set in the unique and scenic surroundings of Muckross House and Traditional Farms and a not to be missed event.

Who can attend the workshops?                                                                                                                                    We encourage players of all standards to come along and join in the fun on Saturday 20th September. Spend a memorable harp-filled day and learn more about the music of the harpers, traditional airs and dance music from master harp teachers and performers. Who are the teachers?                                                                                                                                                 Tutors on the 2014 Harp Trail will include – Cormac de Barra, Janet Harribison, Michelle Mulchay,  Marina Cassidy, Kathleen Loughnane and Deirdre Granville.

Gala Concert in the Schoolhouse – Saturday 20th @ 8.00pm                                                                                      A special treat is in store with the appearance of Grammy award winner, Clannad’s Moya Brennan and harper Cormac De Barra in a gala concert in the Schoolhouse.                                                                                         Tickets are priced €25.00 each and available to purchase from booking office 064 6630804.

Harps on the move………..                                                                                                                                          Sunday September 21st will give you a chance to learn more about the background and history of the Irish harp and to follow the Muckross Harp Trail, Ar Shlí na Cruite, where harpers in true troubadour style take their harps on their backs and travel to the traditional farmhouses on the estate for our afternoon series of harp sessions and where, if you’re lucky, you might hear the occasional song too!

General public admission to the Traditional Farms will be FREE on Sunday 21st September.
