Fanfare de Eendracht at Muckross Traditional Farms

Fanfare de Eendracht from The Netherlands, is traveling to Ireland in October. The year 2014 became a new highlight in the history of De Eendracht when they won the Dutch National Championship in the highest division in April. De Eendracht is completing this fantastic year by traveling to Ireland and share the Dutch fanfare culture overseas. In their program they will let the audience hear what Celtic Music sounds like, played by a typical Dutch fanfare Orchestra. Also they will perform music especially written for fanfare orchestras (traditional fanfare music) and some swinging power music.

fanfare orchestra is a type of brass band with a slightly different instrumentation that is mainly seen in The Netherlands and Belgium. In the fanfare you will see more flugelhorns, trumpets, French horns and saxophones. The Eendracht from Den Ilp exists of about 45 amateur musicians from the region Amsterdam in the age of 14 to 65. In the past decade de Eendracht has developed from being a small average village orchestra to being one of the best amateur fanfare orchestra’s in the Netherlands. The conductor Marcel Visser is also the musical director of the main Dutch productions of the great musicals like Evita, Joseph and currently Sister Act.
