Book Conservation
volume
for repair is carefully documented and photographed. All details
are noted; especially its condition, any marks, inscriptions,
or notes. Everything, even the minutest fragment, is saved
in an acid-free box.
A
quotation is obtained through assessment of the work required,
materials to be used and estimation of the time involved.
From
initial documentation and photography of the volume through
the many different stages of repair, whether page washing,
de-acidification, and Japanese tissue repair of page tears,
the customer can see the ongoing process, and if necessary
a digital record of the work may be provided with the finished
edition.
